Casa Rosa is the typical old Sicilian rural house situated in the midst of a vineyard, 600 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Etna; it is a long way from inhabited areas and noise and has been completely refurbished and furnished with objects related to the old wine growing activity.
It is all on one level and consists of 2 bedrooms (4/6 beds), ample living-room with fire-playce, large diningroom and an adjacent kitchen with open fire-place, looking onto the vast surrounding terrace with a view of the Riposto valley and the beautiful panorama stretching from Taormina to Calabria.
It offers all sorts of facilities, a recreational lawn, outside barbecue and pergolas for “al fresco” dining.
Ideal for country rides. Seaside and tourist resorts and archeological sites in eastern Sicily are all easily reachable.
The living room is the heart of the house for its central position and for the large fireplace, where you may sit on the sofa, armchairs or the tiled stone seats, wondering about the large wicker baskets once used for picking up grapes and now complements to enhance the rural character of the place.
The dining room opens into the kitchen but has its own characteristic arrangement.
It is the most typical room in the house because of the many objects inherited from the past wine making activity: the old wooden –press and wine perculator, wine barrels of all sizes, large straw bottles, and the long old timber table wherebottles and glasses were lined for wine tasting.
The kitchen is tiled in local white and blue pattern, with an old style basin , a modern gas stove and electric oven, an open, angular fireplace in front of the rustic table, and a convenient adjacent pantry with the machines.
The main bedroom opens on the terrace that surrounds the house and overlooks the wide panorama of eastern sea cost and accross the strait Calabria. The other bedroom- which may accomodate 3 beds- looks on the suggestive green rows of the vineyard reminiscent of the timeless practice of the wine growing activity.
